Open proxies

Open Proxies provide some anonymity when visiting websites. Open proxies do not provide the same kind of anonymity traffic analysis resistant solutions such as Tor do for one simple reason: They are one hop solutions. This means that anyone who is watching the proxy, or running the proxy, can see where you are coming from and where you are going. But apart from that: They do hide who you are from the sites you are going to.

Open proxies also have a big advantage over solutions such as Tor: They do not require you to install anything. Just go to a open web proxy website with your browser, type the URL you want to visit and volla, you’re browsing both uncensored and anonymous.

There are many open proxy lists websites on the Internet, just search for “open proxy lists”. I personally recommend Juvos Proxy Sites. It’s easy to (ab)use and it is frequently updated with fresh new proxies. Happy anobrowsing.
